The aliphatic aldehydes are a homologous series of organic
compounds of carbon, hydrogen and oxygen, where the aldehyde
functional group, -C=O.H , is contained within the molecule. The
general formula is CnH2n+2.CHO. The aliphatic aldehydes are named
by replacing "-e" at the end of the alkane from which they are
derived with "-al".

CAS Number: 111-46-6. A clear liquid used in the manufacture of
unsaturated polyester resins, polyurethanes and plasticizers. It
is also used as a dehydration agent in natural gas processing, as a
humectant in the tobacco industry and in the treatment of corks,
glue, paper and cellophane. Chemical formula = O(CH2CH2OH)2.
Molecular weight = 106.12 g/mol.

Also known as: Acetic acid. CAS Number: 109-60-4. A clear,
colorless liquid with a pungent odor. It is used as a solvent,

insecticides. Chemical formula = C5H10O2. Molecular weight =
102.15 g/mol.

CAS Number: 85-68-7. A clear, oily liquid with a slight odor. It
is used as a plasticizer and as an intermediate in organis
synthesis. The major use is in flooring materials, with minor
amounts used in household products. Chemical formula = C19H20O4.
